What materials are mosaic tiles made of? ▼
Glass, porcelain, natural stone (marble/travertine), and recycled glass. Each has unique benefits.
How do I install mosaic tiles? ▼
Requires thinset mortar with a V-notch trowel. Mesh-backed sheets pressed into mortar, grout after 24hrs.
What thinset for glass mosaic? ▼
White polymer-modified thinset (ANSI 118.4). Gray thinset shows through glass.
How do I cut mosaic tiles? ▼
Wet saw with continuous rim diamond blade. Tile nippers for small adjustments.
What grout for mosaics? ▼
Unsanded for natural stone to avoid scratching. For joints over 1/8", use sanded.
Do stone mosaics need sealing? ▼
Yes. Seal before grouting and after. Reseal every 12–18 months.
Can mosaics be used on floors? ▼
Porcelain and stone: yes. Glass: typically walls only.
Can mosaics be used in showers? ▼
Yes. Use waterproof membrane, seal grout, let cure fully.
Can I install over existing tile? ▼
Yes if surface is clean, flat, and sound. Use bonding primer.
How do I clean mosaic tiles? ▼
